Over the past couple of years, Openpilot from Comma A.I. has made significant progress within the self-driving scene growing to over 30 million miles driven autonomously today. Though openpilot has made significant progress, they still do fall short of Tesla's full self-driving offering as openpilot still struggles to do lane changes, turns, and does still have sketchy braking. Despite this, openpilot crushes Tesla in terms of pricing coming in at about 1/8 of the price of Tesla FSD. As a result, for many people, the shortcomings of openpilot are worth it given the significant price cut. Considering this, can openpilot compete against and even overtake Tesla? This video explains the pros and cons of Comma A.I's openpilot and the futures of openpilot and Tesla autopilot.
