摘要
The Concorde was a supersonic passenger jet designed way back in the 1960s. Though it never replaced regular passenger jets, the Concorde was extremely successful within its own industry. British Airways, for example, was able to complete nearly 50,000 flights with the Concorde, and both British Airways and Air France were able to operate the Concorde profitably. Given this success, why wasn't the Concorde more popular and why did these airlines ditch the Concorde. Well, a common misconception is that a deadly crash in 2000 exposed major safety concerns about the Concorde and that this is why the Concorde was retired. However, this is not really true as the crash was caused by a very unique set of circumstances unrelated to the Concorde itself. In reality, the unpopularity of the Concorde and the decision to retire it had little to do with the crash itself. Rather, the Concorde was consistently the victim of its surroundings for decades and decades, and this is the true culprit behind the fall of the Concorde. This video explains the origins of the Concorde and why the Concorde was really retired.
