摘要
The Concorde was one of the most iconic planes in history allowing passengers to cross the Atlantic in less than 3 hours. However, the Concorde was actually not the first passenger supersonic airplane to fly; this title actually goes to the Soviet Tupolev-144. After the Soviet Union heard about Britain and France developing their own supersonic passenger jet, the USSR was determined to beat the western world to a supersonic passenger jet. They would not only succeed in flying the first supersonic passenger jet, but the Tupolev-144 was larger, more powerful, and faster than the Concorde. Despite this though, the Tupolev-144 was also plagued with dozens of issues due to the USSR rushing through development and testing. This resulted in a short-lived lifespan for the Tupolev-144 completing only 55 passenger trips during its lifetime. This video explains the rise and fall of the Soviet Concorde that you've probably never heard of and why the Tupolev-144 failed.
