摘要
We all know about SpaceX and Blue Origin's ambitions to launch satellite internet services that will provide internet to even the most remote places around the world. People often like to criticize Blue Origin for being slow and copying SpaceX, but technically, both SpaceX and Blue Origin are late to the game. This is because Bill Gates attempted to launch his own satellite internet business named Teledesic way back in 1994. The goal of the company was identical to Starlink and Kuiper: making internet access universal. Unfortunately though, Teledesic never ended up launching even a single satellite despite massive investor and government support. Teledesic would end up shutting down in 2002. This video explains the story of Teledesic and the various reasons why Teledesic had to shut down.
