摘要
On March 9th, 1946 a letter was stamped as “received” at the Governor’s office in Springfield, Illinois. Miners at the Local 52 union of the United Mine Workers of America had addressed the letter to governor Dwight Green, begging him to take action at what they considered unsafe conditions at their mine in Centralia. “Governor Green this is a plea to you, to please save our lives, to make the department of mines and minerals enforce the laws.” Four men signed the letter - a little over a year later three of the men would die in a mine explosion.
